How To Get Tax Identification Number (TIN) In Nigeria


Tax Identification Number(TIN) is an identification and unique number issued to personal individual and entities liable to pay tax for taxation purpose.

The Tax Identification Number is usually issued by First Inland Revenue Service(FIRS), a government agency charged with responsibility of issuing Tax Identification Number(TIN) in collaboration with Joint Tax Board.

Pls note, if you have your National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN), automatically, Tax Identification Number (TIN) would have been assigned to you.

How To Register Tax Identification Number (TIN) For Private Individuals

  • Step 1: Visit the Joint Tax Board portal here.
  • Step 2: Enter your Date of birth
  • Step 3: Select from the drop-down menu to enter your Bank Verification Number (BVN) or National Identification Number (NIN).
  • Step 4: Enter your BVN or NIN based on the criteria you selected in step 3.
  • Step 4: Check the reCAPTCHA box to verify that you are not a robot.
  • Step: 5: Click search and you get your Tax Identification Number automatically.

How To Register Tax Identification Number For Corporate Entities/Organization

  • Step 1: Visit The Joint Tax Board Portal here.
  • Step 2: Enter the date your company was incorporated
  • Step 3: Select from the drop-down menu to enter your Bank Verification Number (BVN) or National Identification Number (NIN).
  • Step 4: Enter your BVN or NIN based on the criteria you selected in step 3.
  • Step 5: Check the reCAPTCHA box to verify that you are not a robot.
  • Step 6: Click Search to get your Tax Identification Number automatically.
